In this rare, one-man concert Disney Legend and eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken shares the songs and stories behind legendary Disney films and beloved stage and screen musicals that have shaped generations of audiences around the world.

"Aladdin" on Broadway celebrates 4,000 performances, and honors the late Howard Ashman

Since opening March 20, 2014, at the New Amsterdam Theatre, the Broadway production is currently the 15th longest-running show in Broadway history. The milestone also fell on what would have been the late director-book writer-lyricist Howard Ashman's 75th birthday. In the May 17 tribute, Calen B. Barnett as the Genie introduced a special post-show performance, which went on to feature Khadija Sanko, Ariana Groover, and Salome Smith from Off-Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors; Kyra Belle Johnson and Fergie Philippe from the upcoming North American tour of Beauty and the Beast; original Ariel voice artist and Broadway alum Jodi Benson to sing her signature song "Part of Your World"; and Menken, who sang "Proud of Your Boy" while accompanying himself on the piano.

Another Emmy nomination!

Alan and Glenn Slater have been nominated for "Outstanding Original Song For A Preschool, Children’s Or Animated Program" for their song “Nothing Left To Lose” from "Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure". After winning their first Emmy last season, this is a consecutive nomination from the same television series.

Beauty and the Beast stage revival/UK tour

Disney Theatricals is currently at work on a production of Beauty and the Beast which will tour the UK and Ireland in May 2021. The tour will launch with a five week run at Curve Leicester. The original creative team (including Alan) from the Broadway production will be joining the revival.

Due to personal and logistical reasons, Alan is no longer able to accept or respond to fan mail or autograph requests. This wasn’t an easy decision, but as the volume has grown, it has become difficult to manage in a meaningful way.
